Ausbildung Notice Period Calculator

This Ausbildung notice period calculator shows when your probation ends, whether your notice falls inside it, the four-week notice end date after probation, and the two-week limit for a notice for an important reason. Enter your dates below. It is free, and nothing you type is stored.

Calculate your notice dates

1. Probation and notice

2. Notice for an important reason: two-week limit

General information, not legal advice. Your contract, the calendar rules and your chamber decide the exact dates. If you are under 18, your legal representative must give the notice. Nothing you type here is stored or sent anywhere.

How the calculator works

  • Probation: It must last at least one month and at most four. During it, either side can end the contract at any time without notice or reasons, in writing.
  • After probation: A trainee can end the contract with four weeks’ notice if they give up training or change occupation, or immediately for an important reason. The notice must be on paper with the reason, and email does not count.
  • Two-week limit: A notice for an important reason is invalid if the facts have been known for more than two weeks.

What the result does not tell you

The dates are estimates. Your contract may state a specific probation end date, and the way a notice arrives matters. A letter handed over in person counts at once, while a posted letter counts when the recipient can normally expect it. Ask your chamber before you send a notice.
